DAY ONE

DAY ONE

What if today was the first day of the rest of your life? And what if today was the only day that counted? Then how would you live it? Would you seize the day, carpe diem!

2:00 am.

I was talking to Jose about going back to church. He said that he can’t go back, won’t go back. It’s been 2 years. He loves sin too much, and he knows that following God is a life of obedience. He said he didn’t want to be a hypocrite, going to church on Sunday’s but forgetting God the rest of the week. He even quoted a Bible verse that said that God would rather have us hot or cold, not lukewarm. So you would choose cold?! you fool. I said, besides church, do you believe in God? He didn’t want to answer. He wanted to say yes, but he couldn’t say it. I gotta pray for him. It was a much longer conversation. I got home at

4:30 am.

I should’ve just gone to sleep, but I decided to watch Def Comedy Jam on Youtube. such a wonderful invention.

11:00 am

do some random work, clean up, look up deals on ebay.

noon

went to Mission San Jose High School. Met up with BYoo, Christine, Sophia, and Justine. sushi. jamba juice. Barnes & Noble. bought my XXL magazine so I could keep up wid hiphop.

4:00 pm, Fremont

stopped by the side of the freeway to help someone change a flat tire. I try to help people on the road as much as possible cuz I would want the same for me if I needed help. cut my finger a little because of a stupid slip. The best part about helping people on the freeway is I could legally do a 0-to-60 launch to enter the freeway. I revved up to 4400 rpm and dropped the hammer. oh the smell of burnt rubber.

4:15 pm, Pleasanton

I met up with a friend, Gordon Rogers, who “guaranteed” that I could get a particular spiritual gift. psshhhh! guarantee? Anyway, after some time in prayer, he didn’t even admit that he was wrong, but he kept saying that I had received that spiritual gift; I just need to practice it. ok. I’ll do it. I’ve been practicing, but so far --- nothing. Then we talked about the charismatic gifts and our supernatural experiences with them. I felt like we were a couple of old soldiers telling each other war stories. but I aint that old yet, and there are more stories to come.

6:30 pm, Milpitas

Church Wednesday night service. nothing particular. just payin my dues.

8:30 pm, Berkeley

went to go see how KCM was doing on their first night. saw some people I met at Send Your Reign. Good to see old faces, and new. I know that just showing my face was an encouragement, and that’s why I went. must pray for revival.

10:30 pm, Top Dog.

‘nuff said.

midnight.

back home again. gotta recharge for another day. recharge consists of email, aim, prayer, and youtube. oh yeah, and zzz…

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix8.0 of 10 – the best Harry Potter movie I’ve seen!, although most people said this movie sucked. It’s probably because I didn’t read the book. The directing was very good – dark theme throughout. Great editing, acting, screenplay. What I loved the most was the theme of pain. This was a very adult movie, not childish like the other Harry Potter movies. The emotional pain of the characters were deeply examined – to create the why behind the what. You could sense the emotional struggles that can’t be verbalized in a screenplay. If Transformers had even half the emotional drama of this film, it would’ve been the greatest movie of the year.

I saw this movie in the context of spiritual warfare. Most will deny that Satan (Voldemort) is real and treat church as just a safe place to learn safe disciplines. “but how can we defend ourselves if we don’t learn magic spells?” We have to practice the spiritual weapons in our arsenal if we are to have any defense and victory over the dark spiritual forces. But we can’t go it alone. “When are you gonna get it that we’re in this together?” “By yourself, you’re not much of a threat [to Voldemort].” The world (muggles) and the system (The Ministry) will sometimes try to bring us down with legalism and tell us there is no war. That’s when we have to train ourselves in the spells (Bible) and wand (Sword of the Spirit), and be in a network of same-minded soldiers (youth group), with the guidance of good professors in the Order (pastors), and face Voldemort who tries to invade our minds. Be strong (Dt 31:6), guard your minds (Phil 4:7), don’t give the devil a foothold (Eph 4:27).

Die Hard 48.5 of 10 – awesome! you gotta watch it. one of the best of the series! great writing, great directing, good screenplay, awesome action! This is what a action hero and action movie is supposed to be! John McClane is exactly the type of macho guy we need to see resurrected on the big screen. He’s been replaced by today’s metro sensitive guy or dumb funny man of romantic comedies. no wonder guys are turning emo and running away from spiders. Let’s bring back action men who are not criminals or gangsters and celebrate why men are men. Highly recommended. If you wait for the DVD, you will regret it. Yippy ki ay, ...!

Dave Chapelle gave me a shoulder massage

It was my first time at the comedy club in San Francisco, and I didn’t even know he’d be there. The 4 comics who went up really sucked. And then when Dave Chapelle was called to stage, I looked around but couldn’t find him, but he was right behind me giving me a massage. He was naturally funny, most of it was just conversation, not prepared material. He even picked up his cellphone and chatted with Mos Def on stage and told him to come by if he wasn’t busy. and he did. Mos Def did a few raps with the crowd – original stuff. and Robin Williams was just visiting today and he went up and did a comedy routine for half an hour. Then there was the rap battle. There were so many unexpected interruptions, we were there til midnight. Then Robin Williams and Dave gave me a high five. Too bad no cameras were allowed in there. at least I’m in Dave Chapelle’s phone. cool night. my date told me, “crazy things happen when I’m with you.” yeah, but my life is exciting only cuz I do crazy stuff for God.

currently speaking in New York. flying back on Saturday. Last night the power went out cuz of a thunderstorm. weird New York. Thunderstorms in June?

Evan Almighty7.0 of 10 – not bad, not great, but you definitely got to go see it. I think it’s the best Christian movie of the year. It wasn’t hiliarious, just some chuckles, but there’s a good Christian message as a modern parable. Good music score, average acting, good directing, and bad CGI, but definitely a movie I would watch again. Go ahead and watch it – it’s a good feel-good movie.
